Understanding Toxic Load: How it impacts your health and ways to reduce it.

Updated: Dec 3, 2023

In today's fast-paced world, we are constantly being exposed to an ever increasing number of chemicals and pollutants that can have a detrimental effect on our health. These toxic substances, known as toxic load, accumulate in our bodies over time and can lead to a range of health issues. Understanding the concept of toxic load and learning how to reduce it is crucial for maintaining optimal well-being. New Zealand is no different to any other country in this regard and it is also affecting our children.

In this blog post, we will explore what toxic load is, how it affects our health, and provide actionable tips to minimize its impact. Some are easy and will even save you money.

What is Toxic Load?

Toxic load refers to the total burden of toxins that accumulate in our bodies from various sources such as air pollution, pesticides, heavy metals, household chemicals, and even certain foods. Our bodies have natural detoxification systems, including the liver, kidneys, and lymphatic system, which work to eliminate these toxins. However, when the exposure exceeds the body's ability to detoxify, the toxins accumulate in our tissues, leading to an increased toxic load.

Effects of Toxic Load on Health:

An excessive toxic load can have major adverse effects on our health. It can disrupt hormone balance, impair immune function, and contribute to chronic conditions such as allergies, fatigue, digestive disorders, and even cancer. Additionally, toxic load can affect mental health, leading to brain fog, mood swings, and cognitive impairment. Therefore, reducing toxic load is crucial for promoting overall well-being.

Ways you can reduce Toxic Load:

Start by minimizing your exposure to toxic substances in your home, and vehicle.

Switch to natural cleaning products, vinegar is a natural highly effective cleaning product.

A quick google search will give you a few choices and our Prana Therapy range is a really

versatile product that also sanitise's, and is safe for young children and babies.

Avoid synthetic fragrances, and opt for organic or chemical-free personal care products. This will reduce your exposure to harmful chemicals found in many conventional household items. Start reading labels and check out what is in your personal care products - even the so called natural ones. Get rid of fluoride toothpaste !!

Reduce your intake of processed foods, which often contain artificial additives, preservatives, and trans fats. Focus on whole, nutrient-dense foods such as fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains.

Choose organic produce whenever possible to minimize exposure to pesticides and herbicides. The dirty dozen and clean 15 is a list of the most chemically polluted and the cleanest after testing by the Environmental Working Group and is a good guide to what produce is best to be bought organically if possible. Wash all your fruit and vegetables by soaking in the sink with 4 Tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar and 2 teaspoons Baking Soda before consuming.

Get your bowels working....yes that is a big one. You need to 'poo' every day or the toxins that your body is trying to eliminate will end up being stored in your body for longer and it becomes harder for your body to manage the load. If this is a challenge for you look into ways to support your bowel health to gain improvement on this end.

Clean, filtered water is essential for supporting your body's natural detoxification processes.

There are many choices of filtration available and if you are living in the city on a supply with chlorine and fluoride you need to seriously consider a filter that will remove these and other heavy metals. A system that also alkaline's the water is well worth looking into.

Add Lemon Juice to alkaline your water, and you also need to be drinking enough to flush the toxins out of your organs.

Certain lifestyle practices can help optimize your body's detoxification processes.

If you have access to a Sauna this is a great way to get the toxins out through sweating.

Get hot everyday, jump on a trampoline, or go for a brisk walk.

Epsom salts baths, even a foot bath will help to detox.

Chronic stress can hinder your body's ability to detoxify effectively. Incorporate stress-reducing activities into your routine, such as meditation, yoga, deep breathing exercises, or engaging in hobbies you enjoy.

Toxic load is an unavoidable reality in today's world, and is going to be critical for our children going forward. By understanding its impact and implementing simple lifestyle changes, we can reduce our exposure and support our body's natural detoxification processes. By adopting a clean diet, using natural household products, and practicing stress reduction techniques, we can lessen the burden of toxic load on our bodies and pave the way for improved health and well-being.

Remember, minimizing toxic load is a long-term commitment, and small changes can make a significant difference over time. Take charge of your health by taking proactive steps to reduce toxic exposure and support your body's natural detoxification abilities.
